Throughout high school, Dr. Secora Lambert was a Division I and II All-American Track and Field Athlete, and basketball player.  After suffering a knee injury, she decided to use her athleticism and compete in figure competitions.  After competing for less than six months, she became a Natural Professional figure competitor in 2008.

Unfortunately, two out of three people in the U.S. are overweight. 

Are you tired of starving yourself to lose weight?  This is the number one problem I see with people who are on diets, and weight loss programs.

You don’t have to starve yourself to lose weight.

By not eating enough calories your body will go into “survival mode”, where it will begin to lose muscle during a starvation period.  So while you might lose some weight, the majority of it is probably muscle and water weight. 
By losing muscle during this process you are simply slowing down your metabolism. This is the primary reason why people tend to gain weight they lost so quickly.

I call these yo-yo diets because people tend to eventually gain all the weight back…

Most importantly the reason why a person will gain back weight after the dieting period is that they have slowed down their own metabolism by losing muscle during the dieting period. Their body used their own muscle as a source of energy thereby slowing down their metabolism. Remember the more muscle you have the faster your metabolism, the less muscle you have slower your metabolism.

If you are not at your ideal weight -- overweight or underweight -- you should start with the Beginning nutrition plan and stay there until you have achieved your ideal body weight; then  move into the Intermediate plan to further optimize your body with weight training, and effective cardiovascular exercises.

There is a science to training for a world bodybuilding figure competition.
Here are three key components of being more ripped for your bodybuilding competition.

BE LEAN: Of course you have to be lean. Not starved,but you have to have full shapely muscles. Lift only to be strong and eat enough food to look healthy. Don't try to compete until you have very little body fat. Stay on the nutritional plan, keep weight training and diet the fat off, then plan to compete.

EXERCISES YOU NEED TO DO: Weight training and cardiovascular exercise. You will need to do both. Usually resistance training with weights 2 or more times a week to build muscle tone and cardio to burn fat like walking or bike riding.

PEAKING: What is peaking?: Peaking is the culmination of a long build up cycle. You build up to a new level of size and strength (get in great shape), then chiseling down (taking off all the extra fat) as it were, to a super lean and muscular condition. If you do it right (peaking)and don't starve all your muscles off yourself by over dieting, you should end up leaner with more muscle then ever before every time you peak yourself.
Peaking takes practice. That is why you need to keep an eating log, to record how much food you need to achieve a certain look in a certain time frame.  There is lean then there is super lean with no body fat at all. A true peak is an extreme temporary condition where you are at your physical best with super low body fat. This means training a little more often and really going for it--in terms of effort and intensity. Most athletes peak their strength (for the year) and increase their volume of training about a month or so before they compete and carry that level of performance all the way into the contest.
